We take Vadya Chaturthi (the 19th tithi of the lunar month) and choose the day on which it is current at moonrise in Mumbai. Moonrise for other cities is shown for the same date. Moonrise can be 10 to 30 minutes later in eastern Maharashtra.

When should the Sankashti fast be broken?
After moonrise, once the Moon has been seen and offered arghya. If clouds hide it, the fast is broken at the moonrise time given for your city.
What is Angaraki Sankashti?
A Sankashti Chaturthi that falls on a Tuesday (Mangalvar). It is considered especially auspicious. Next Angaraki: 29 September 2026.
Why is Sankashti sometimes on a different day in another calendar?
Sankashti is kept on the day when Vadya Chaturthi is current at moonrise. When the tithi changes close to moonrise, calendars for different cities can differ by a day.
