Customs
Bullocks' horns are painted, and they wear jhuls, bells and garlands. They are fed puran poli and taken in procession through the village. In Vidarbha, Tanha Pola is celebrated the next day, when children take wooden bullocks from house to house.

Amavasya of Shravan (Pithori Amavasya) at sunrise. In some parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada Pola is kept on Bhadrapad Amavasya.
