Tulsi Vivah
The tulsi plant is decorated as a bride and married to Krishna (as Shaligram or an image) in the evening, with mangalashtaka and a sprinkle of akshata. After Tulsi Vivah, wedding muhurats resume.
How the date is fixed
Ekadashi of the bright half of Kartik at sunrise (Prabodhini Ekadashi). Tulsi Vivah begins on Dwadashi and can be done until Kartik Pournima.
