The wari
About three weeks earlier, the palkhis of Sant Dnyaneshwar from Alandi and Sant Tukaram from Dehu set out on foot, singing abhangs and chanting "Dnyanba Tukaram". Ringan (circular runs of the horse) along the route are famous.
Fast
Most people fast with sabudana khichdi, varyache tandul, ratale and fruits, and break the fast on Dwadashi.
Chaturmas
Vishnu is said to sleep from this day until Kartiki Ekadashi, four months when weddings and house-warmings are usually not held.
